The problem was that people are not perfect and we were asking what the perfect one would do in our situation. We cannot comprehend what He would do because of our imperfections.
BAKA, Bring A Kid Along.
Baka in Japanese means Stupid or Dumb.
The world in its current state is stupid. We can change it with our actions.
I was driving to work one day thinking: when I have a son or daughter they're going to look up to me not only as a father but also as a teacher. They will learn from my actions when I'm not thinking about it. I then began thinking of my day to day actions, and thinking of what I do that I might not want my children to do. I began thinking of my children growing up. The first thing that came to my mind, as I was driving, was my actions in the car. Not only how I react to other drivers on the road, but ... what about when I'm teaching that child how to drive, how fast do I want them to go? Think of this phrase: "But dad/mom drives like this."
Hardened habits die hard. Change them now.
Instead of speeding, try going closer to the speed limit. Be an example for your child now so that when you actually have one, it won't be so much of a transition.
Now what about the things you say when hanging out with friends after hours, for example at I-Hop. What would you expect your friends to stop saying or doing, what would you stop saying or doing?
Hardened habits die hard. Change them now.
What events in your day to day life that you would normally be engaged in would you cover their ears or eyes? Here's an idea. Stop. Ooooh a four letter word... If your kid doesn't need to see or hear it, why should you? "Because I'm old enough"? That makes it okay?
Imagine if for one day all adults limited themselves to the activities they would allow their children to partake in. Imagine 24 hours of family time. Can you imagine something that peaceful? Wouldn't it be nice?
Hardened habits die hard. Change them now.
Children learn the majority of what they know from watching and observing those people around them, especially their parents and siblings.
Now, I don't have a child and I know that alot of you don't either, but that's beside the point. The point is to think of that situation.
My suggestion is to bring your child (at least mentally) with you everywhere you go and remember that they are watching you at every turn. Live your life so that THAT child will grow up to be a God fearing individual.
